act·art·mgt is a management agency dedicated to supporting innovative musicians. Our aim is to empower artists who push boundaries and create distinctive music. We believe in developing strong community roots, removing barriers, and creating space for all artists, audiences, and dreamers.
act·art·mgt focuses on investing in Canadian talent, forging new connections and networks, and expanding the Francophone presence within Canada's experimental music landscape. We offer sliding scale fees to ensure accessibility and remove financial barriers for artists seeking professional assistance. We are committed to researching, developing, and implementing alternative management models that are sustainable in the context of non-commercial and underserved music scenes.
act·art·mgt was founded in 2020 by Amélie Malissard.
Amélie Malissard has over
fifteen years of experience managing projects, in the experimental music scenes, and beyond. In
recent years, she has worked with artists, festivals and venues in
Canada. She especially enjoys using ideas, spreadsheets, emails, and social media to bring everybody together at
music shows. Other favourite activities include planning for the
future; supporting the creation, release and promotion of new works;
organizing; designing strategies; writing grants;
and questioning how to do things a bit (or a lot)
differently.
She
worked as Project Manager for the Vancouver Independent Music Centre
- VIM (2019-2020) and as Logistics & Marketing Director for
the Suoni Per Il Popolo / Casa del Popolo / La Sala Rossa festival, venues & bars-restaurants (Montreal, 2016-2019). She was a
Founding Member of the Lux Magna Festival (2017-2019) and part of the
Noisundaeee Collective in Montreal (2017-2019).
Amélie
Malissard was born in France in 1985. Before moving to Canada in
2016, she was an international policy expert and worked for the
French government. She holds a Specialized Masters degree in Creative
and Cultural Industries Management from the Burgundy School of
Business (2016), a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs from Sciences
Po Paris (2008) and two Bachelor’s Degrees in History and Classics
from Universities Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and Paris IV Sorbonne
